Nabors Selected as LAC artist of the month

• Leeds, Alabama arts council presents artist Lee Nabors

The Leeds Arts Council is opening its show for its July artist, Lee Nabors, on Friday.

Nabors' paintings will be available for viewing before the council's opening reception
July 12.

Nabors, a Decatur native, studied acrylic painting at Alabama A&M University and
acrylic and watercolor painting at Calhoun Community College. She also has studied
under several artists including Sally Strand in Atlanta. She opened her Decatur
business, Lee Nabors Studio, in 2005.

 
The exhibit will feature works in pastels, which she said is her favorite medium.
Nabors likes to paint close-up still life compositions of vegetables and fruit, but
she also paints portraits of people and animals.

The Leeds Arts Council's Theatre and Arts Gallery, at 8140 Parkway Dr., is open 9 a.m.-
2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and during Arts Council events. For more information
